This training course, a joint venture between the GGP and UNCTAD, was the second of a planned series of courses aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of officials from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in specific areas of international economic law and policy identified as being of interest by the LDC Group in Geneva. The focus of the course was on the reform of preferential rules of origin, an important element of the implementation of a set of measures agreed at the 2013 WTO Ministerial meeting in Bali, and the development of specific proposals that can be put forward in the WTO Committee on Rules of Origin (CRO) and in bilateral and regional negotiations on rules of origin.
