A significant number of regional (and even international and global) organizations across the globe have equipped themselves with representative assemblies or regional parliaments. The reason for this institutional development may be found in an increasing awareness and will to add democratic legitimacy to regional organizations. Beyond this common trend, a significant variance emerges in relation to design, powers and performance. This variance expresses the adaptation of the parliamentary institution to different environments. This ETS has involved high level officials and representatives to discuss and shed light on these issues.
