Terrorism & Security Governance

terrorism and security governanceOn 22 June the Robert Schuman Centre, in line with its mission to promote policy dialogue with the world of practice, held a discussion titled ‘Terrorism and Security Governance’ involving both well-known academics in the field as well as officials from the European CommissionNATO, and Europol

Terrorism poses both a policy and an analytical challenge. Yet, if we are to respond effectively to the policy challenge we need first to respond effectively to the analytical challenge. At the same time, for quite many years, data-driven analysis and information regarding the terrorist risk Europe is facing has failed to reach opinion makers and mainstream audiences. In this light, the aim of the  ‘Terrorism and Security Governance’ Forum is dual: first to feed academic reflection about the analytical problems we face in the study of terrorism, and second, to frame and inform the public discussion on the security situation in Europe.
