Biography
Valeria Lauria is a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the European University Institute. Previously, she was a Boya Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Peking University. She received her PhD from the International Institute of Social Studies and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and completed an MSc in Social Policy and Development from the London School of Economics, as well as an MA in International Relations from the University of Roma Tre. During her PhD, she held visiting positions at Tsinghua University in China and the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University.
Valeria’s research interests lie at the intersection of international relations and international political economy, with a particular focus on the rise of China in the global context, development financing, infrastructure, and African agency.
She is the founder of the think tank A-id: Agenda for International Development.
