Biography
Francesco Strazzari is Professor of International Relations at the Pisa-based Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna, where he specializes in security, peace and conflict, with a focus on Africa, the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe. He holds a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence (2003), a Master from NPSIA (Carleton University, Ottawa), and a Laurea from the University of Bologna. He is adjunct professor in international relations at SAIS Europe – The Johns Hopkins University (2009-2024). He was as senior research fellow on terrorism and crime at NUPI (Oslo, 2012-15), and tenured senior lecturer at the University of Amsterdam (2005-08). He often comments on international affairs in the media. His latest book, Frontiera Ucraina (il Mulino, 2022) explores war in Ukraine in its connection with a changing international order through the lenses of critical geopolitics.
