Salma Amazian
Biography
Salma Amazian is a Research Associate at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, the European University Institute, working on the Building Resilience against Violent Extremism (BRaVE) Project.
She has conducted research on Islamophobia and institutional racism for non-governmental and civil society organisations, as well as for the public administration. Her research explores the impact of counter-terrorism and counter-radicalisation discourses and institutional mechanisms on Muslim populations in the Spanish context. She is a PhD student in the social, cultural and gender analysis of migration programme at the University of Granada focusing on the construction of the Muslim as a threat in Spain.
Research Interests
Her research interests focus on the structural and systemic dimension of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism, North African migrations to Spain and the limits of the institutional models to reach racial justice.
