Join the EU and GIFI at IGF2025 for a global dialogue on WSIS+20 and the SDGs
As the international community approaches the twenty-year milestone of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), the 2025 Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Oslo will serve as a key platform to revisit and reinvigorate global commitments to inclusive, rights-based digital transformation. This Open Forum, hosted by the European Union in collaboration with the Global Initiative on the Future of the Internet (GIFI), will examine how the WSIS+20 process can be effectively aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring digital technologies contribute meaningfully to equitable and sustainable development.
The session brings together a diverse panel of experts and stakeholders, including representatives from governments, international organizations, civil society, the technical community, and youth-led initiatives, to:
- Reflect on the progress and challenges since the WSIS+10 review, particularly the relevance and implementation of the WSIS-SDG Matrix.
- Explore collaborative strategies and roadmaps that link digital policy with specific SDG outcomes.
- Share best practices and emerging initiatives that promote digital inclusion and sustainable innovation globally.
Through moderated panel interventions and open discussion with onsite and remote participants, the session aims to co-develop a set of actionable recommendations to inform the WSIS+20 review process and strengthen global digital cooperation.
The Internet Governance Forum will take place between 23 and 27 June, and the Open Forum is scheduled for Wednesday 25 June at 13:30 CEST.
You can attend the IGF in person or online, registration is mandatory.
