The value and functions of parliaments in regional organisations
Executive Training Seminar
16 – 18 November 2016
Scientific Coordinators: Carlos Closa | Istituto de Politicas y Bienes Públicos, Spain & European University Institute, Italy
A significant number of regional (and even international and global) organisations across the globe have equipped themselves with representative assemblies or regional parliaments. The reason for this institutional development may be found in an increasing awareness and will to add democratic legitimacy to regional organizations. Beyond this common trend, a significant variance emerges in relation to design, powers and performance. This variance expresses the adaptation of the parliamentary institution to different environments. This ETS involved high level officials and representatives discuss and shedding light on these issues.
